About Us
Alpha Lambda Delta is an honor society for students in their first year at an institution of higher education.
Alpha Lambda Delta's mission is to:
"encourage superior academic achievement... to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society."
Alpha Lambda Delta's motto is:
"We shall pass our torches on, one to another."
Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes those students who have succeeded in maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA in their first year and are in the top 20% of their class. Prospective members will receive an informational letter and email from us after their first semster at Oakland University.
Membership Requirements
There is no time commitment, once inducted you are a member for life but, members who strive to go above and beyond are eligible for scholarships and are eligible to purchase a cord to wear at graduation. Our point system keeps track of our active members and the break down is as follows:
A member graduating in April 2016 is eligible to buy a chord for $7 with no points required.
A member graduating in December 2016 must complete two (2) points to be eligible to buy a chord for $5
A member graduating in 2017 must complete five (5) points to be eligible to buy a chord for $5
A member graduating in 2018 or any year after must complete ten (10) points to be eligible to buy a chord for $5 or Fifteen (15) points to receive a free chord. Any ALD-OU sponsored event counts as a point this includes monthly meetings and fun events unless otherwise stated by the executive board.

Volunteer Committee
Provides service opportunities such as making items to donate and volunteering at non-profit organizations. We volunteer at major community service events including MLK Day of Service, OU Day of Service and much more.
